About Me

My name is David Higgins and I am a secondary school student from Knocklyon in South Dublin. I’m 18 however ever since 14 or so I’ve had a burning interest in politics. Recently, I actively engaged in the 2009 local and european elections supporting the Fine Gael party. I am now the Public Relations Officer for Young Fine Gael in Dublin South.

I believe they are the party with the cop on to lead the country and I say this without the push of anyone else influencing me. I take no political influence from my family or friends and I am not from what one might call a “Fine Gael family”, in fact I know many Fianna Fáil supporters on one side of my family.

I believe my opinion is one that reflects a New Ireland that is critical of its politicians and that wants to see the best and the brightest take seats in Dáil Éireann. Also, even though I’m in Fine Gael I warmly support many aspects of all the other parties in Ireland and I don’t engage in the blind partisan politics that has plagued our political system for so long.

My opinions also strive to portray the issues facing the youth of today and the solutions, in my view, to these issues.

I hope you enjoy all I have to say and I welcome any suggestions and comments to my posts.
